Rock-dwelling cichlids
Colorful, rock-dwelling cichlids native to Lake Malawi — known for bold personalities, vibrant colors, and active behavior. Malawi Hybrid Magic mbuna combine these legendary traits with unique bloodlines to create one-of-a-kind fish with exceptional color, pattern, and character.
Open-water haps

Lake Malawi haps
Lake Malawi haplochromines are open-water and sand-dwelling cichlids famous for the dazzling breeding colors of their males. By crossing select Haplochromis with Aulonocara (peacock) bloodlines, we capture that signature electric color and dramatic finnage in a smaller, more aquarium-friendly adult size — the best of both worlds in one fish.

Our latest release — a deep, electric cobalt Aulonocara line bred for saturation, finnage, and presence. Limited numbers available from the current spawn.

Row upon row of concrete raceways, fed by a steady pulse of fresh water and filtered daylight. Every tank holds its own bloodline — Mbuna, Aulonocara, Placidochromis, Haplochromis — and a few crosses carrying twenty or thirty species in a single fin.
A recent grow-out — each one from a different pairing, each carrying its own mix of Aulonocara, Mbuna and Haplochromis genetics. No two alike, none repeated.

One pull of the net and the whole lake spills out — tiger-striped flanks, blue masks, rose bellies, coral fins. Each fish is the result of a specific pairing, hand-selected, then grown out in its own raceway.
The color you see isn't paint — it's pigment cells responding to clean water, steady temperature, and a decade and a half of patient line-breeding.
The collection started in 2010 with a single tank and a fascination with Lake Malawi's endless color. Today it spans over 500 individual breeding groups — Mbuna, Aulonocara, Placidochromis, Haplochromis — and crosses that carry twenty or thirty different species in their bloodline.
Every group is hand-paired, grown out in its own raceway, and selected for color intensity, fin shape, and temperament. The color you see isn't paint — it's pigment cells responding to clean water, steady temperature, and a decade and a half of patient selection.
